Day Visit - Simbonga Game Farm & Sanctuary

Area

Jeffreys Bay

Description

On 160 hectares of majestic mountain views and wide-open plains, Simbonga Game Farm Sanctuary and Warriors of Wildlife NPC have combined to create a unique facility catering to the needs of tourists who just want a break with the added bonus of learning about the plight of abused wild animals and the work that goes into rescuing and relocating them. They are located in the heart of the Eastern Cape, 40 minutes from Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) and 20 minutes from Jeffreys Bay.

Warriors of Wildlife have already rescued and transported over 20 lions from Ukraine to South Africa. Simbonga is currently home to 12 lions, one tiger, and other free-roaming animals like kudu, giraffe, blue wildebeest, impala, zebra, and more. Because the sanctuary area is not open to the public, the lions and the tiger can only be seen by appointment.

The sanctuary is managed by Keegan Smith, who has working experience with lions, tigers, and other big cats, and his wife, Lauren Kylie, who shares the same working experience but also assists in monkey rehabs, bats, and birds.

Simbonga is open to day visitors, but only in restricted numbers. They want to keep it peaceful for the sanctuary, wildlife, and visitors alike.
