Woodbury Tented Camp is an intimate, three-star bush camp that forms part of the spectacular Amakhala Game Reserve and is located just 45 minutes east of Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) and tucked into a secluded hillside thicket overlooking the ancient floodplain of the Bushman's River.
The camp is in the malaria-free Frontier Country of South Africa's Eastern Cape and has been the home of the Gush family for five generations. The staff, many of whom have grown up in the area, take great pride in ensuring that your African safari experience is something to remember.
Ten en-suite tents on raised bases, each with a private deck, provide guests with a unique connection with nature. Tents feature hot running water, king-size or twin beds, and electric blankets for those chilly nights. Also available are two family tents linked via a balcony, allowing families to explore the African jungle together.
Friendly and competent guides provide opportunities for spectacular Big Five game sightings and stunning bush sunsets with two daily game drives. The thatch-and-canvas dining and lounge room, with its vast terrace overlooking the Woodbury plains, is the focal point of camp life. A wide variety of game species such as zebra, giraffe, buffalo, and elephant can often be seen from the deck, while the haunting cry of fish eagles echoes across the valley.
