Springlands Farm Self-Catering and Pet-Friendly Cottages are located just outside Patensie, in an undiscovered part of the beautiful Eastern Cape. The farm is about 100 km west of Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), in an area known to locals as Bean se Bos, named after the Bean family, who once owned the four farms in the Valley. They share a boundary with the Stinkhout Reserve, which forms part of the Baviaans Kloof.
The Valley's diversity is unrivalled. On the valley's south-facing slopes and lower reaches, indigenous woods include our national tree, the Real Yellowwood, as well as Yellowwood, Stinkhout, Ironwood, Wild Chestnut, and Wild Fig, to name a few. In addition to giant cycads, the upper levels of the north-facing hill are home to several varieties of aloe, acacia, and spekboom. There are also Weeping Boer-Bean and Milkwood patches. The beautiful ferns blooming near the river and the vast stretches of fynbos on the upper mountain slopes illustrate the differences once again. The fauna and birdlife are as fascinating and diverse as the habitat in which they are found.
The crystal-clear river flows from the beautiful Stinkhout Berg. The farm is fortunate to have Red Fin Minnow and Tilapia as residents due to the quality of the water. It happily bubbles through the farm, and several pools and swimming holes have formed over the years, providing cool relief on a hot day.
The ideal location for spending quality time with the kids and furkids, away from all modern distractions! The perfect place to enjoy fresh air, stunning landscapes, and wide-open spaces.
