Eight Bells Mountain Inn

Eight Bells Mountain Inn is a typical English-style mountain resort with four-star facilities and a range of outdoor activities. It consists of 25 tastefully decorated en-suite bedrooms, family units, timber log cabins and thatched rondavels situated in different parts of lush gardens shared by an abundance of birdlife.

Established more than 80 years ago this charming Inn is renowned for its friendly hospitality, superb service and a range of recreational facilities amidst magnificent mountain scenery.

All rooms are individually decorated with their own charm and character and are divided into four categories: Rose Court, Pool Terrace, Palm Court or Swiss Village with either garden, pool or mountain views.  Together they cater to all visitor’s needs, giving them a home away from home feel and enticing them to visit again!

Each bedroom is equipped with a direct-dial telephone; digital safe; large flat-screen television set with a bouquet of DSTV channels; tea and coffee making facilities; free WI-FI; bathroom amenities; underfloor heating or wall-mounted panel heaters; either ceiling fans or air-conditioning units; outside verandas or decks.

Pool Terrace

A thatched wing consisting of family suites and rondavels – some overlooking the bell-shaped swimming pool with views of the surrounding hills and mountains – while others have garden views.

These rooms are well-appointed and individually decorated with outside verandas to soak up the sun with views over the pool and the mountain beyond.  Each unit consists of a double bedroom, bathroom with bath and shower, plus an additional room with one or two single beds.  For larger families, we are able to either add another bed or change the beds for bunk beds offering space for a family of six.

There are also three rondavels set apart from each other offering privacy, two of which are well suited to honeymooners.

The child-safe swimming pool nearby and open grassed areas in front of this wing is ideal for families with young children.

Rose Court

Situated in a quaint garden setting Rose Court consists of a wing of north-facing bedrooms and two thatched rondavels. The bedrooms are decorated in various fresh, colourful themes while the two rondavels have an East African theme.

The Rose Court wing offers a twin and double room as well as two family units consisting of a double bedroom, bathroom plus an additional room with two single beds. For larger families, we are able to swap the single beds for bunk beds offering space for a family of six.

This wing is ideal for families with small children and older people needing to be closer to the main building.

A large open veranda stretches along the front of this wing, ideal to enjoy the afternoon and early evening tranquillity or to sit and read a book.

Palm Court

Many years ago, this building was originally used as the stables before being converted to bedrooms. It consists of a courtyard-styled thatched wing of rooms with mountain views and a colourful garden. The name is derived from the palm tree that is now about twenty meters tall.

Recently completely refurbished, each en-suite bedroom leads onto a private enclosed sun patio and four of these bedrooms have their own outside patio. Bedrooms are decorated with a tasteful selection of both modern and classic-style themes.

Most Palm Court rooms are wheelchair accessible and they are also some of our most spacious rooms. They are well-suited for longer stays and offer a welcome retreat for guests wishing to explore the Garden Route and use Eight Bells as a base.

Swiss Village

Consisting of five authentically-styled Alpine timber log cabins they offer great mountain views and absolute privacy.

Decorated in a subtle Africa inspired theme, each cabin has its own sundeck, under-carpet heating and an air-conditioning unit making them very comfortable throughout the year. Accommodating only two persons they are ideal for honeymooners and discerning clients that need to be away from the hustle and bustle of the main public areas.

There is also a family unit consisting of the main bedroom with a queen-size bed, a second bedroom with twin beds, a lounge and a bathroom with a separate shower cubicle and bath. A small counter with tea & coffee making facilities completes the picture. Outside extending across the front of the cabin you will find a large sundeck – equipped with sunbeds and garden furniture, commanding a picturesque view out over the mountains.
