The Amakhala Game Reserve is named after the Xhosa word for "aloes," the abundant indigenous plant in the wonderfully diverse Eastern Cape province.
This safari experience lasts four hours and includes a three-hour guided game drive in an open game drive vehicle. After an amazing experience, enjoy a delicious 2-course lunch (plus 2 local beverages with a cash bar available) before returning to your accommodation or cruise ship.

08:30 – Collection from Your Accommodation or Cruise Terminal
Your safari begins with a friendly pick-up from your accommodation in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) or directly from the cruise terminal. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the scenic drive to Amakhala Game Reserve.
09:30 – Arrival and Check-in
Upon arrival at the reserve, meet your professional guide or ranger and get ready for an exciting day. Make sure you have everything you need, camera, extra batteries, a warm jacket, and binoculars are all recommended!
10:00 – Big 5 Game Drive
Embark on a 3-hour guided safari in an open vehicle through Amakhala’s spectacular landscapes. Keep your eyes open for the Big 5 (lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard), as well as cheetah, giraffe, zebra, black wildebeest, and a variety of antelope species. Your experienced guide will share fascinating insights about the reserve and its wildlife throughout the drive.
13:00 – 2-Course Lunch at the Lodge
Return to the lodge for a delicious two-course lunch. Enjoy a relaxed meal with two included local beverages (cash bar also available). The lodge’s tranquil setting offers the perfect opportunity to reflect on your wildlife encounters.
14:00 – Return Transfer
After lunch, we’ll make our way back to your accommodation or cruise terminal. Keep your camera ready, there’s always something to see on the return journey through the Eastern Cape bushveld.
